What's next

Punch list · in rough order

  • Magic link auth
  • Domain verification
  • Response notifications
  • Better text analytics
  • Real status page

Not a roadmap. A punch list. The order will change next week, and the week after that. I had two of these items in the opposite order last Tuesday.

I keep a text file of things that bother me when I use Pluck. Here are the top five right now. I'm publishing them partly because writing them down forces me to defend them, and partly because someone reading this is going to tell me I have the wrong top five.

Magic link auth. Pluck still asks new users for a password. In 2026. I know. Resend is wired up, the email template is written, I just need to flip the switch and delete the password field. Probably this week. I keep finding reasons it's not the highest-leverage thing, but every time someone signs up and forgets their password I want to crawl under the desk.

Domain verification. Right now anyone can put any name in the footer of a form. If you want an AI to reason about whether a form is from who it says it is, the form needs a verified origin. DNS TXT record, "verified" badge in the JSON payload, done. Trust is a feature. I argue with Claude about which of these to ship first. Claude usually picks this one because of the trust math. I usually pick magic link because it's the smaller change. We compromise by me shipping magic link and feeling guilty.

Response notifications. Today you have to refresh the dashboard to see new responses. That's embarrassing. We crossed 200 submissions this week and I noticed half of them four hours late because I was deep in a Postgres migration. Email digest first, then realtime in the UI. Nothing fancy.

Better text analytics. The summary tab on a form currently says, roughly, "open the Responses tab to read them." That's not analytics. I want a one-paragraph synthesis at the top: themes, outliers, the one sentence you'd quote in a Slack message. The model can do this. I just haven't shipped it.

A real status page. I removed the "all systems normal" link from the footer last week because it pointed nowhere. A green dot that lies is worse than no green dot. I'll put a real one back when there's something real behind it.

Things that are NOT on this list: a mobile app, a Zapier integration, a team plan, AI scoring of responses. People ask. Saying no to people who took the time to email me is the hardest part of any week. Maybe later. Probably not.

I read every reply. Sometimes a no-thanks email hits harder than I expect. If something is annoying you about Pluck that isn't on this list, tell me — hi@pluck.one. I'd rather hear it now than find it myself in three weeks.
